GreenPower Motor Company produces a full line of high-floor as well as low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which is able to accommodate various upfits and bodies for multiple applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows the best battery pack placement and a lower center of gravity, which results in better payload-to-range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX was developed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The refrigerated trucks of class 4 have a single interior wall structure and higher insulation than traditional trucks, allow for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer service life. The EV Star REEFERX delivers superior cargo capacity and an industry leading payload-to-range ratio for zero-emission passenger and cargo transportation.
GreenPower has joined forces with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to easily move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star can also be wirelessly charging up to 75 kW.
We had the chance to test the EV9 for several hours on a local freeway and found it to be easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 is able to suppress road noise and wind while on the highway. It glides effortlessly over bumps and ruts. The acceleration is extremely quick, and the car comes with adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by taking off the accelerator.
The EV9 offers a great range and can be charged in three hours or less at home, or by using any commercial charger. green scooter can choose from two operating modes: eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode is a great way to increase the power and cruise control, as well as handling while sport mode maximizes speed. Both are fun to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for anyone that has never been in an electric vehicle before.
GreenPower provides a variety of other EVs which include a multi-purpose electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be utilized as an executive shuttle, transit or micro-transit vanpool, bus, or paratransit vehicle.
GreenPower is currently producing around 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of old diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demands of the Biden Administration who is planning to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be Altoona-tested and FMVSS-certified. Buy America compliant and ADA conforming. This means they will be eligible for federal transit assistance grants.
